In this seminar titled "Access to Housing for Migrant and Racialized People in the Valencian Community," researcher Ana Fornés focuses on one of the main current issues for citizens: housing. Specifically, she examines the discrimination faced by migrant populations in accessing housing, based on a recent report on the issue in the Valencian Community.
Call for Papers
On the occasion of the celebration of the I MULTIHURI Seminar Cycle at the University of Valencia, the research group of the MULTIHURI project aims to create a space for debate on the problems posed by xenophobia and racism for the integration of racialized groups or displaced persons during times of populist nativism resurgence. The submitted papers will undergo a peer-review process and, if accepted, will subsequently be included in a publication with ISSN available online and open access.
The topics of the seminars for which papers may be submitted are as follows:
- Racist hate speech on social media.
- Racial discrimination in access to housing.
- Racism and power.
- Labor market and immigration: obstacles to integration.
- Inequality in access to healthcare for the migrant population

Keys to Deactivating Hate on Social Media

This online seminar, "Keys to Deactivating Hate on Social Media," addresses the issue of racist hate speech on virtual platforms in a context of post-truth and massive disinformation. This environment fosters widespread disbelief, exploited by social media algorithms to create ideological niches that weaken public deliberation among citizens. Organized by the project "Deactivating Racism and Xenophobia" from Convive - Fundación Cepaim, the seminar will delve into the mechanisms of cyberspace tools in shaping public opinion and fueling racism, as well as exploring strategies to combat racial hatred.

En el workshop “Análisis de medidas políticas y sociales para hacer frente al racismo y la discriminación en España, Italia, Francia y Dinamarca”, celebrado el 10 de noviembre de 2023 en la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales de la Universitat de València, se exponen los resultados de la investigación que diversos miembros del equipo MULTIHURI han desarrollado en el marco del proyecto y se debate sobre ellos de cara a la preparación de los textos definitivos del libro “Análisis de las medidas políticas, jurídicas y sociales para hacer frente al racismo y la discriminación en España, Francia, Italia, Dinamarca y Finlandia” que se publicará próximamente en la editorial Aranzadi.
