Several MULTIHURI researchers will be at University of Nantes (France) on 4-5 October to take part in the international conference "European travellers: migrations, exiles, hybridity and citizenships in the XIX-XX centuries, Europe-America". Ángeles Solanes will deliver a keynote lecture entitled "Symbols, identity and islamophobia. On the function of the democratic state under the rule of law"; Pilar Martínez-Vasseur will examine Spanish emigration to Latin America (1898-1936) from the perspective of identity and nation-building processes; Encarnación La Spina will address the challenges of coexisting with diverse family models; and Pier-Luc Dupont will analyse the interaction between European citizenship, migration and the protection of cultural rights. The event has been organised by Pilar Martínez-Vasseur in collaboration with other professors affiliated to the Research centre on national identities and interculturalism (CRINI) of the University of Nantes.
